tidal creek

With "storm surge" is Reef Resort in danger of flooding?

Is it possible for Reef Resort to flood during the visit of Severe tropical Cyclone Jasper?

Reef Resort is in what is known as a Yellow Zone which is at moderate risk of flooding from cyclonic storm surge. The Country Club to our West is noticeably lower and is in the Orange Zone which is at high risk of flooding from cyclonic storm surge.
Our open drain which runs along the Northern boundary and turns onto the Western boundary connects into a tidal creek.
We have Spring tides this week which will also have an effect.
On Wednesday 13 December 2023 Cyclone Jasper will cross the coast somewhere between Port Douglas and Cooktown, possibly as a Category 2.

Addendum Monday 18 December 2023
Cyclone Jasper passed to our North and so started the rain. It has been relentless. We lost power for 53 hours and there have been floods further afield for example; the Daintree River catchment.
So is it possible for us to be flooded?
I don't think the Storm Surge will be the main issue but the drain may well be. Between Villas 93 and 94 is a culvert. If the drain upstream is not kept clean the culvert can be easily blocked with heavy or consistent rainfall.
This time it was not so much heavy rainfall but consistent rainfall that blocked the culvert and this happened because the drain was not cleared as required (monthly in the caretaker's contract). To be fair the deturis did not look like much and the drain looked fairly clean, but when it is lying along a 150 metre drain and 500mm of rain washes it downhill it will block the culvert to some extent.

The grey object on the left is a live 240 volt power box. The pavers in the backyard of a villa can clearly been seen on the right.
The rain became heavier early afternoon and the culvert overflowed. The overflow went in 3 directions; over the culvert and into the drain plus down the gutter of the road on the Western side and diagonally accross the road joining the already full gutter on the Western side of the road.
The good news is the original drain is still taking a lot of the water away.
None of the constant rain since Thursday has been particularly heavy.

Other Floods
The whole of the far north is suffering from ex Cyclone Jasper. Most major roads are flooded and even Port Douglas Road at the Barrier Street roundabout is flooded. Late Sunday afternoon Coles, IGA and Woolworths closed their doors and it is unsure when they will be opened again. Routine appointments at Cairns Hospital for Douglas residents have been cancelled.
