Committee "walk around" Sunday 7 May 2023
Four association members met up for walk around the property. The first thing we noticed is the hibiscus bushes had been removed from next to the driveway entrance and is part of council's gardening programme for Port Douglas Road where garden beds are being established with much lower plants.
The consensus was our grounds need a lot more work than they are getting. There is nothing uniform about the gardens, some parts are well maintained and other areas not so well looked after. We have a few drainage problems and a choked up storm drain behind Villa 92.
The main photo was taken from the North-East corner looking West. The property on the right is the Port Pacific retirement developement and the left side is our property. It can be and is seen by loads of people who use the shared path along Port Douglas Road. This is very disapointing. We will make an attempt to contact the owners of Port Pacific and ask them what their plans are for a fence. The Body Corporate Committee were contacted a few years ago by the owners about a fence but unfortunately nothing filtered down to our owners.
Centro (Centrosema virginianum) is an invasive vine from South America which has found its way into the Southern boundary of Port Pacific and and parts of our property.
The state of our gardens needs to be addressed and maybe we can talk about this at our next meeting
